Paul Krugman

Winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics (2008), Paul Krugman is a professor at Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and a regular columnist for The New York Times. Krugman is also a "Centenary Professor" at the London School of Economics, and was awarded the biennial John Bates Clark Prize (1991), with which the American Economic Association rewards economists under the age of 40. The author of dozens of books and hundreds of articles, he was "Ford International Professor of International Economics" at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he received his doctorate in 1976, and has also taught at Yale and Stanford Universities, as well as serving as an economic advisor to the White House. Krugman was awarded the Nobel Prize for his contributions to the new theory of international trade based on economies of scale, with implications for patterns in international trade and development, the role of history and expectations in the geographical concentration of national and world wealth.
