MBA ISEG | Workshop at Escola Naval - Sailing Crew

  NAVAL SCHOOL WORKSHOP

Around 25 MBA ISEG students took part in a workshop organized by the Naval Academy, the main aim of which was to develop skills related to the management and leadership of medium-sized teams, simulating the challenges and problems of an individual and relational nature that organizations face.
The workshop took place at EN's facilities at the Alfeite base, and included navigation exercises with the Portuguese Navy's simulators, team building and development, and real navigation on the Polar and Blaus VII ships in the Tagus.

In addition to management and leadership skills in small and medium-sized organizations, the group also had the opportunity to learn about the high moral, ethical and educational values that characterize this corps of the Portuguese armed forces.

The two-day event involved around 40 EN officers and sailors, whose contribution, dedication and organization were crucial to the success of this activity.

WITNESSES

"The activity took place at the beginning of May 2014 and was of great importance, providing an opportunity to apply and enhance the skills developed during the school year in a supportive and properly controlled environment. The activity of going out to sea in the blaus and polar sailboats gave us an insight into, and development of, teamwork in an environment where mistakes are not permissible.
It was an extremely important activity, and it was a great asset of this mba to be able to do it."

"An unforgettable experience of great learning, sharing knowledge about the leadership process and nautical skills allied to a group that knows how to cooperate together to achieve common goals. It was a unique experience that once again the MBA - ISEG provided. I felt on the spot the motivation to overcome the various challenges that were set before us, I acquired a nautical vocabulary that was unknown to me until then. I would like to thank all the attention given by the Navy team who provided us with this outdoor training, ISEG Prof. Jorge Gomes and the group of students, and I would like to say a special thank you for a weekend that will live long in my memory and will certainly help me to look at the challenges we all face in our organizations from a different perspective."
