University of Lisbon by bike | Project 189

The "University of Lisbon by bicycle" (189) project proposed by the University of Lisbon is being voted on until November 6 in the Lisbon City Council's (CML) Participatory Budget (PB) 2014.

The University of Lisbon is committed to publicizing and supporting project 189 to create a cycle path that promotes cycling between the University's different campuses. As well as promoting good environmental practices among the academic community, the 189 project also aims to improve accessibility in the city by proposing the creation of a cycle path network linking important areas of Lisbon, such as the Tagus River, Monsanto Forest Park, Baixa, Chiado and Campo Grande.

Project 189 includes:
- Establish a cycling network between the different campuses of the University of Lisbon located in the city of Lisbon, linking the University City, Alameda, Ajuda, Chiado and Quelhas;
- Provide this route with support equipment for bicycle users.

Voting 189 in the CML's Participatory Budget is to promote and develop a sustainable mobility system in the city of Lisbon that could be a benchmark for new mobility models.
