ISEG students are runners-up in the European Entrepreneurship Competition: JA EUROPE ENTREPRISE CHALLENGE 2020

18 entrepreneurship projects from 18 European countries, created by about 90 young university students, presented their work last week in the European Competition of Junior Achievement's StartUp program. This year, more than 17,000 European students from 500 higher education institutions participated in this program. The Mized team, composed by 5 students from ISEG, reached the 2nd place in this competition.

These students conceived business ideas and, over the course of a school year, went through all the steps necessary to create, implement and operate them. Due to the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's competition, which was to have been held face-to-face in Athens, was conducted virtually.

The students participated in this European final after being selected as national winners in each of their countries. Representing Portugal was the Mized team, consisting of ISEG students Dora Morgado, Mariana Cintra, Rita Santos, João Bento, Francisca Pires and mentored by Professor Ana Venâncio. These students developed customized and personalized protections for combat sports, i.e., a plastic chest protection made of PET, a biodegradable and recyclable plastic, that perfectly fit the athletes' bodies. Additionally, they offer a customizable sports top with a specific behavior to fit the plastic protection. This team delivered a 2 minute video pitch to investors and a 30 second commercial video. They also conducted an interview and submitted a company report.

At the awards gala on June 26, Team Mized won a very honorable 2nd place, distinguishing its project, its school and its country in such a prestigious event. In this contest, this was the best classification of young Portuguese university students.
