Memory and Hope: tribute to the victims of the Covid-19 pandemic | ISEG joins this initiative

From October 22, 23 and 24 a series of initiatives across the country in honor of the victims of the Covid-19 pandemic. These initiatives originated from the mobilization of a group of citizens who created the movement Memory and Hope. A Presidency of the Republic, the University of Lisbon and ISEG among other institutions and citizens support this initiative of memory and hope. Luís Mah, professor at ISEG, is part of the Promoting Committee.

The virus that ravaged the world in 2020-21 is being fought effectively by health measures and vaccines achieved in record time. The trail left behind is one of desolation: the number of those directly affected is approaching 180 million and, of these, nearly four million have lost their lives. This is a tragedy of overwhelming proportions.

Looking at the post-pandemic phase in the reality closest to us, we must not forgetWe cannot make a clean slate of the traumatic experience that the last year has represented for hundreds of thousands of Portuguese who have lived and are living through tragic moments.
