On the relevance of the theme of Development Information for the Sustentar Project - Multidimensional and Inclusive Platform for Development and the program of 21 October 2014.

Information on Development is one of the central themes of reflection that we must highlight through the materialization of various contents. These contents will allow us to stimulate a plural discourse on the theme, which is essential to us.

In current times, characterized by the rapid circulation of information and the possibility of generating change and mobilization of society, the epithet "Information for Development" justifies our gesture and action.

It is for the possibility of change and global awareness, in the certainty that it is within our reach to contribute to building a better world, that we will focus and commit ourselves.

The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed October 24 as World Development Information Day in 1972, through its resolution A/RES/3038 (XXVII), in the belief that improved dissemination of information would lead to greater awareness of development problems, with results in promoting international development cooperation.

According to the United Nations, information and communication technologies have the potential to provide new solutions to development challenges, highlighting how they can promote economic growth, competitiveness, access to information and knowledge, poverty eradication and social inclusion.

World Development Information Day aims to draw public attention to development problems and the need to strengthen international cooperation to address them.

Marking this date, and in our way highlighting the importance of this ephemeris, it is up to us to promote, in the Salão Nobre of the Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão, the launch of a set of presentations related to the artistic interventions on the homepage of the project Uma Prática Necessária, with the aim of validating our positioning and establishing ourselves as a dynamic and reference platform for content and communication of artistic practices, and a debate session with the aim of promoting a true and innovative multidimensional and integrated reflection, enriched by the various contributions and personal views, and whose panel is made up of relevant personalities.

This October 24, 2014 will be closed with the interpretation by cellist Nuno Abreu of the Suite No. 2 for Solo Cello by J. S. Bach in D minor, BWV 1008.

I hope you like it. Today, this is our proposal. We challenge for now this Now!

Nuno Olim Marote
