Young Scientists Competition 2017

 

Until April 21, applications are open for the 25th edition of the Young Scientist Competition. For the best projects there are more than €5,000 in prizes and the opportunity to participate in international competitions with works from the most varied areas of study: Biology, Earth Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Medical Sciences, Social Sciences, Economics, Engineering, Physics, Informatics/Computer Science, Mathematics, Chemistry and Bioeconomics.

Participation in the 25th Young Scientist Competition is aimed at students in primary, secondary or first year of higher education, aged between 15 and 20. Young people must submit an innovative scientific project that has been completed before entering higher education.

This edition is organized by the Youth Foundation, in collaboration with Ciência Viva - National Agency for Scientific and Technological Culture. This contest aims to promote ideals of cooperation and exchange between young scientists and researchers, stimulating the emergence of young talents in the areas of Science, Technology, Research and Innovation.

The evaluation and selection of the works is the responsibility of a Jury appointed by Ciência Viva - National Agency for Scientific and Technological Culture, which includes professors and researchers of recognized merit from the different scientific areas involved, in addition to representatives of the Fundação da Juventude, Ciência Viva and the Portuguese Environment Agency.

Promoted by the Youth Foundation with the support of the EDP Foundation, Luso-American Development Foundation, Astrazeneca, Porto Editora, Lipor and Intel, the Contest aims to encourage a competitive spirit in young people, through the realization of innovative scientific projects.

Papers must be submitted by April 21 using the form available at www.fjuventude.pt/jcientistas2017The selected projects will be announced during the month of May, on the contest website, and will be present at the 11th Science Exhibition, which will take place from June 1 to 3, 2017, at the Alfândega Congress Center in Porto.
