ISEG is very proud to welcome the election of Professor Mário Centeno, Portugal's Finance Minister, as President of the Eurogroup on December 4, 2017.
Mário Centeno is a Visiting Professor at ISEG, having taught Labor Economics until his appointment as Minister of Finance at the end of 2015. He has a degree in Economics (1990) and a master's degree in Mathematics Applied to Economics and Management (1993) from ISEG, and completed a further master's degree (1998) and doctorate (2000) in Economics at Harvard University. At the beginning of his career he was a lecturer in the Mathematics department at ISEG, and later joined the staff of the Bank of Portugal.
He is a member of the UECE research center at ISEG and associate editor of Portuguese Economic Journal. He has developed research work in labor economics, with publications in top scientific journals in the area such as Journal of Human Resources, Labor Economics or Journal of Labor Research. He has also published articles in economics journals such as Journal of International Money and Finance, European Economic Review, Economica, Economics Letters, among others.
