This workshop is designed to equip researchers, librarians, and academics with essential skills in bibliometric analysis, using two of the most popular software tools in the field: VOSviewer and Biblioshiny.
The workshop will begin with an introduction to systematic literature reviews and bibliometric analysis, explaining the purpose, scope, and various applications. Participants will understand the distinction between general literature reviews and systematic approaches. Following the foundational knowledge, the workshop focuses on hands-on training in VOSviewer and Biblioshiny. Attendees will learn how to install, navigate, and utilize these tools to create insightful bibliometric visualizations and analyses. Participants will practice performing bibliometric analyses on sample datasets, enabling them to understand the nuances of each tool and how they can be applied to their specific research needs. By the end of the workshop, attendees will be proficient in conducting bibliometric analyses and visualizing research trends, collaboration networks, and the impact of scholarly work, thus enhancing their research capabilities and understanding of the scientific landscape.

About the Speakers:
José Almeida is a Lecturer and a researcher at ISEG - Lisbon School of Economics & Management, Universidade de Lisboa. His main areas of research interest are financial economics, macroeconomics, financial markets, alternative finance, behavioral finance, and cryptocurrencies. His work has been published in international reference journals. He currently teaches financial management at undergraduate level.
Jorge Xavier is PhD candidate in management at ISEG - Lisbon School of Economics & Management, Universidade de Lisboa. He holds a Masters in Science, Technology, and Innovation from Universidade de Aveiro. He is the author of publications in the fields of Information Society, Martech, and Adtech. Jorge has a professional background of more than 20 years, working for banks, local e-government agencies, and leading companies such as Microsoft and Oracle. His current research interests embrace data-driven organizations, primary and secondary data usage for the betterment of healthcare.
