The Gulbenkian New Talents Scholarships provide annual support to exceptional students in Portuguese higher education, promoting their talent and encouraging them to begin conducting research in the fields of basic science – such as biology, geology, physics, mathematics, and chemistry – as well as in any field of humanities, from arts and social sciences.
More than just a scholarship, the program also offers an immersive talent development program, in which scholarship recipients are mentored by tutors and a scientific committee, as well as scientific retreats.
The scholarships are intended for students in their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of a bachelor’s degree program or an integrated master’s program, or in their 1st year of a master’s degree program.
Applications will be accepted between September 1 and 30.
