Practical Workshop on Mindfulness and Chi Kung

25 July 2026 from 09:30 to 12:00
Quinta das Conchas (in the central nave), Lisbon
Saturday, 25 July—don’t miss the “Practical Workshop on Mindfulness and Chi Kung”, from 09:30 to 12:00.

Develop your ability to concentrate and, consequently, your intuition, your perception of events and decision-making skills in life's most difficult situations. Achieve a balance between body and mind and learn how to manage stress and improve your health and quality of life.

In this workshop, Professor João Carvalho das Neves (ISEG) combines the theory and practice of Mindfulness, featuring energy management exercises (Chi-kung) designed to improve your health and well-being, providing you with tools for your daily life, and including specific opportunities for interaction to address questions and concerns. The instructor is a Certified Teacher in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction from the University of California, San Diego Center for Mindfulness Professional Training Institute and an accredited Chi-Kung instructor from the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Lisbon).

Free admission, but places are limited. To take part in the workshop, please register by email to ritasilvacosta@hotmail.com

Participants should preferably bring a yoga mat and a bottle of water. Everyone is encouraged to bring snack items for sharing and socialising.

Programme:
  • Start with Mindfulness Meditation, calming the mind and body;
  • “The Five Animals” Chi Kung;
  • Zhang Zhuang (tree pose) -- both systems are based on the theory of the five elements, thereby benefiting the energetic flow (chi) of the five organs and are coupled;
  • Pause;
  • 18 Taiji Chi Kung movements;
  • Mindfulness: Body Scan - another mindfulness and relaxation practice, as well as an activity for connecting with oneself and gaining self-knowledge. According to Harvard Medical School, this is the best type of meditation for pain conditions.
