Conference | The Future of Work: Digitalization and AI

On 23 September, the conference ‘The Future of Work‘ will be held, organised in partnership with SHL Portugal and the HR Ahead Project .

The conference starts at 9.10 in ISEG's CGD Auditorium, on a morning especially dedicated to Human Resources Managers and Directors, during which a new competency model will be presented and debated which is designed to help Portuguese organisations respond to current and future challenges.

Among the topics highlighted will be:

- The requirements of reskilling and upskilling
- The role of leaders in managing change
- Possible and necessary interventions in organisations
- The strategic relevance of HR in this new scenario

All this in a conversation about how to transform the time freed up by Artificial Intelligence into action with human and organisational impact.

The conference will be attended by professors from ISEG Paulo Lopes Henriques, Helena Jeronimo and Jorge Gomes and Pilar Mosquera.

Contest for the award for two research grants

Notice: Contest for the award of Data grant

This grant is intended for Master's students in the areas of Economics, Management, Information Systems and Data Analysis, or related areas considered relevant to the project.

Notice: Contest for the award of HR grant

This grant is intended for Master's students in the areas of Economics and Management, or other areas of the social sciences deemed relevant.

The grants will be funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) under project no. 2024.07652.IACDC/2024, in accordance with the Acceptance Agreement signed between the FCT and ADVANCE, ISEG's Centre for Advanced Research in Management.

Both contests for grants aim to integrate young researchers into scientific activities of excellence, promoting the development of skills in the context of applied research in the field of management.

Interested parties should consult the notices and submit their application by 3 June 2025.

II Power Conference

The II POWER Conference will take place on the 11th October at ISEG, starting at 09.00 in Auditorium 2, Quelhas.

The programme features the participation of Ariana Simões de Almeida, who will debate the challenges and achievements in the fight for Gender Equality, and also of Manuela Doutel Haghighi, who will discuss the importance of female leadership in business and for the economy.

ISEG professors Pilar Mosquera and Helena Jeronimo will speak on the topic of 'Gender equality in Portugal - invited to the party, but not to dance', offering a reflection on the future.

The event will also feature a presentation by the students who won the FedEx Access Award at Gen-E 24, highlighting their innovative work in the early detection of breast cancer. The session will close with an award ceremony recognising the work carried out by the participants.

The POWER - Portuguese Observatory for Women's Equality is to develop a continuously-updared data observatory to change the mindset regarding gender equality in business (Ref. 2022.08793.PTDC). It is funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology and is hosted by ADVANCE-CSG/ISEG- ULisboa.

5th International Conference on Human Resource Management

The 5th International Conference on Human Resource Management will take place at ISEG on the 27th and 28th February, 2025. It has recently been confirmed that the keynote speaker for the opening address will be Professor Jason Bennett Thatcher, from the Leeds School of Business, University of Colorado-Boulder.

This edition of the meeting will also feature a collaboration with the Management Review QuarterlyJournal, which promotes research through the opportunity to be published in its Special Issue: Human Resource Management and Artificial Intelligence to elevate work.

A call for papers is made for researchers in the areas of Human Resources Management and related areas, as well as Masters and PhD students and professionals interested in these research topics. Contributions should be submitted by the deadline of the 17th November 17, 2024, via email to submissions@advance.iseg.ulisboa.pt.

The 49th Annual Conference of the European International Business Academy – EIBA will take place at ISEG - Lisbon School of Economics & Management, from the 15th to the 17th December, 2023.
