ISEG welcomes 120 secondary school students to the first ISEG Open Day of 2021, in collaboration with CGD

On April 17, ISEG opened its doors to another edition of the Open day, in an online format.

During this day, a number of topics relevant to the future economists and managers of our country were covered. The morning was divided into two parts: a set of posts, ranging from a scape room to the victory game, and a business case so that they could understand a little about the role of a manager.

At one of the stations, we had the participation of Speak & Lead, where participants were able to put their sales and persuasion techniques into practice. As the main partner of Open day 2021, we had Caixa Geral de Depósitos, which took an active part in the day, especially in the business caseThe project was designed by the same team to give birth to ideas from all different backgrounds. All these activities were accompanied by a group of students from the different undergraduate programs so that the ISEGuian spirit was not lacking.

Around 120 higher education students from the north and south of Portugal took part in this activity, along with more than 50 ISEG students who accompanied them online.

Let's hope we meet these future economists and managers next year, seizing their future!

ISEG brings together secondary school teachers for an event entitled "...in the eyes of a teacher"

On April 6, the first in a series of events aimed at creating a bridge between secondary and higher education through informed debate on pertinent topics "... in the eyes of a teacher" was held via Zoom.

The opening topic was "Education", debated by four ISEG professors, well-known personalities in the public spectrum of political and economic opinion, such as João Duque, Nuno Crato, Sandra Maximiano and Sara Falcão Casaca. The importance of communication in teaching and the characteristics required of a student for a promising performance at university dominated this evening, moderated by Nicolau Santos, ISEG alumnus and president of Agência Lusa.

In its first edition, the debate was attended by more than 100 secondary school teachers, who were interested in absorbing the knowledge of our guests and adding their own perspective to the topics under discussion.

In the end, there was a clear consensus: dialogue is essential for better integration between secondary and higher education - events like this are urgently needed.

ISEG is committed to opening its doors once again to welcome, as always, all those who, above all, have an open mind - ready to seize the future!

Death of Jorge Coelho

It is with great sorrow that ISEG shares the grief of Jorge Coelho's family, whose untimely death leaves us poorer.

A graduate of ISEG, Jorge Coelho was a distinguished alumnus with a remarkable career in politics and business, having been Minister of Public Works and Minister of Internal Administration.

He was also a dedicated member of the ISEG School Council.

The President of the ISEG Economic Foundation and founder of Banco BIG, Carlos Rodrigues, remembers his friend and fellow countryman with great emotion. "All of this is devastating". "Jorge was one of the best people I knew. He was one of the most generous, reliable and transparent people I've ever met. It was a joy to spend time with him," he told Expresso a few minutes after learning of Jorge Coelho's death.

ISEG launches advertising campaign to communicate brand identity

Following the renewal of its brand identity, ISEG is now betting on a major multi-media advertising campaign to communicate the signature "Open minds. Grab the future", created by brand strategy consultancy Saint Pirate and production company el-Hey.

In the year in which it celebrates 110 years of history, the campaign reflects ISEG's modernity and determination to be close to the essence of each one. The first school of economics and management in the country reaffirms its brand of rigor, pluralism, humanism and avant-garde thinking and innovation.

"The positive energy we feel today at ISEG had to be translated into our communication" explains Clara Raposo, President of ISEG. "We are a school that truly teaches, with depth and demand, but which is also a genuinely human and collaborative school. This campaign reflects our spirit of inclusiveness and the coexistence with the arts and creativity, which are indispensable elements for the new generations of managers and economists."

The whole campaign is based on ISEG's DNA and is based on a insight central: "the future of economics and management is made up of different talents". ISEG, with its culture of rigor, collaborative thinking and innovation, is open to these different profiles, inaugurating a "next level" of education and knowledge in Portugal.

This campaign involves a 60" film and fourteen graphic pieces to communicate four complementary approaches (institutional; undergraduate; master's and executive training), which will be conveyed in a media plan. on and offline.

ISEG Career Forum 2021 - 58 companies virtually presented their job offers to 1600 students

With a digital format, in the 21st edition of the ISEG Career Forum, more than fifty national and international companies had the opportunity to recruit and make available several job offers to ISEG students, through an online platform parameterized so that the fairground was as close as possible to the real space where the fair is usually held - the Pátio das Francesinhas.

The event also included a series of activities, such as Company Talks, Virtual Speed Interviews and Workshops, where contact between students and the business world was privileged.

Companies such as EY, EDP, CGD, Vodafone, Deloitte, Banco de Portugal, Accenture, L'Oreal, among many others, contacted 1619 participating students and received a total of 6531 resumes.

Statistics about the event:
- 58 companies
- 1619 students participating
- 6531 CV's sent
- 830 users in the auditorium (maximum reached)
- 2955 messages exchanged between students and companies

Testimonials:

"As a representative of Deloitte at the ISEG Career Forum, in which we have been present for several years, I want to congratulate Carrer Office for providing students with a unique and remarkable experience, totally online, giving them the opportunity to contact with more than 50 companies!
The various interactions created throughout the day, the company presentation and the chat allowed the students to get to know the Deloitte culture better, what our mission and values are, share experiences and clarify doubts about our business areas, career opportunities and recruitment processes we have underway.
The fact that it is a platform with 3D perspectives, almost transported us to the Pátio das Francesinhas, allowing a complete view of the fair and all the stands, in which, by customizing the stand, companies had the opportunity to share their identity.
It was definitely a very successful adaptation, with a very intuitive and interactive platform."
Ana Rebelo Grilo (People Attraction & Recruitment, Deloitte)

"The Virtual Future platform, used for the first time at the ISEG Career Forum as part of job fairs, was developed by the non-profit association Inspire the Future, in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, as an alternative solution to the face-to-face fairs developed by this association.
Therefore, it was based on these 8 years of experience that we wanted to create a platform that tries to replicate as much as possible the kind of interactions that exist in fairs of this kind, not only in terms of the relationship between exhibitor and participant, but also visually, in terms of the dynamics of circulation and obtaining documentation.
However, the platform's great differentiation lies in the total customization of the event, which cannot be found in other platforms. It was for this reason that ISEG decided to replicate its famous Pátio das Francesinhas, so that participants would feel in the same environment as they would in a face-to-face fair."
Eduardo Filho (President, Inspiring Future | Unlimited Future)

"ISEG is one of the largest and best academic institutions in Portugal, Europe and the world and has, in recent years, been consolidating this position of excellence. The 2021 Career Forum is another step along this path, demonstrating why ISEG and its students continue to be so highly valued by companies.
The Career Office is obviously to be congratulated, not only for organizing this event, but also for its contribution, over the years, to the recognition and prestige of ISEG and its students in the business world.
For Lidl, ISEG is an extremely important partner and we are very proud to participate in this event that promotes interaction between the company and students and allows a proximity that is not usually possible on a daily basis. Through this event, it was possible to have a great impact on hundreds of students who may be part of Lidl's future and contribute to our success as a company.
It is through these moments that we are able to distinguish ourselves as a company, while the students also have the possibility to stand out, as well as to enrich themselves throughout the event through various activities. For us, these are special moments, where we try to pass important messages to the students and that, in some way, the contact with us can enrich the time they are investing.
A final word of thanks and recognition to the Career Office, who organized a totally virtual event, extremely masterfully and with fantastic tools that allowed both companies and students to have a great day!"
Guilherme Consolado Paz (Employer & University Relations, Lidl)

"We proudly participated in ISEG's Career Forum 2021. An ISEG with renewed communication - OPEN MINDS. GRAB THE FUTURE - with which L'Oréal identifies very closely.
Despite the context we are in, it was good to feel the virtual energy of a generation that wants to receive from companies, a vote of hope and confidence.
Freedom to go Beyond. That's the Beauty of L'Oréal was the message that we hope to have passed not only in the TALKwhere we had 640 participants but also in the countless number of contacts in Virtual booth. The following are the Virtual Speed Interviews on March 2nd. A full agenda, but pertinent and very well organized. Congratulations to ISEG for the courage and in 2022 we will be together again!"
Sara Silva (Talent Acquisition & Employer, L' Oréal Portugal)

"The Career Forum managed, once again, to open the doors to the Labor Market. Despite the situation we are in and the impossibility of a personal contact, it was possible with a virtual and interactive fair, to talk to all the companies and clarify our doubts in an innovative way.
The company talks gave greater proximity and contact with recruiters along with the chance to get to know each company better.
It was a day that helped me organize my future and prepare for it. As a student at the end of my first year of master's I can say that it is these contacts and the effort made by the Career Office that help us find opportunities and broaden our network."
Mafalda Palmela, Masters in Management student

"About this Career Forum, I would like to highlight the ability to adapt to the online format and the model built in this same dimension. In a day of Company Talks, we were able to have contact with many companies from various business fields and get a better understanding of their performance, both in their activities and in their recruitment processes.
It is this set of learnings that will allow us to be even better prepared when entering the (increasingly competitive!) job market."
Rafael Carreiro, Management undergraduate student

"Career Forum'21 was for me the total reinvention of one of the most important ISEG events for students in my position, never giving up its essential mission: bringing students closer to the labor market.
It was an extremely productive day that not only made me feel more ready for a next phase of my life, but also opened up opportunities for the current phase."
Rodrigo Brigham, undergraduate student in Mathematics Applied to Economics and Management
