On
February 20-22 will take place at
auditorium of the House of Latin America/UCCLAin Lisbon, the "
Connec SME Open Dayst", a
event of
business networking in which experiences will be shared within the
PME Connect project and took stock of the work done so far.
Over the course of the three days, representatives of large Portuguese companies, SMEs and public bodies, diplomatic representations, academics and members of the government will also present concrete cases of international experiences, as well as sharing different visions and knowledge about the internationalization and competitiveness of the Portuguese economy.
The
Open Days will allow also promote the external dissemination of PME Connect and extend the benefits of the program to other SMEs and stakeholders from other sectors of the national economy.
It has been confirmed that
ISEG
is a member of the Advisory Board of the PME Connect program,
an unprecedented initiative to promote the internationalization of SMEs which puts large national exporting companies and investors outside the country in a position to directly promote and support the internationalization of Portuguese SMEs.
The project, supported by
Compete 2020 and developed by the Portuguese Industrial Association (AIP) and Deloitte, with the support of Casa da América Latina, UCCLA - Union of Portuguese-speaking Capital Cities and the Order of Economists, has the collaboration and mentoring of EDP, Mota-Engil, the Pestana Group, Sonae MC and Tekever and five dozen national SMEs.

ISEG's confidence index calculated for
January
2019 e relating to the evolution of Portuguese economic activity in the short term was 34.4, which corresponds to a decrease in the Panel's index of confidence in the evolution of the economic situation compared to the value of the index in December, which was 34.8. Year-on-year, the index fell by 0.6%. The Panel members' consensus on economic developments remained unchanged.

The Vasco Vieira de Almeida Foundation and Startup Lisboa are organizing the
1st Legal Hackathon in Portugal, with the support of Microsoft and OutSystems, and UNESCO's Life Long Learning, taking place on the
March 16th and 17th,
at Vieira de Almeida's office, in Lisbon.
The aim of this initiative is to foster the development of innovative technological solutions that bring citizens closer to the law and thus promote legal literacy, legal empowerment and the full exercise of citizenship.
During the two-day hackathon, the teams will be accompanied by mentors specializing in technology, law and management and will have to develop innovative ideas that respond to the proposed problems and that manage to keep up with the strong international trend in the adoption and integration of new technologies in the way different legal actors work and adapt their processes. After pitching their proposals, the jury will decide on the winning teams and award prizes totaling 10,000 euros.

University students, young professionals and entrepreneurs can participate individually or organized in multidisciplinary teams.

23rd February, it follows from
Diagonal Workshop, an
meeting of mathematics studentsintegrated into the
New Talents in Mathematics Program promoted by the Caloust Gulbenkian Foundation.
The event takes place
at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the Nova University of Lisbon (Auditorium 1-A).
ISEG will be represented by two students, André Bento, from the 2nd year of MAEG, who will talk about "Topological degree theory and economic applications", and David Barros, from the 3rd year of MAEG, who will talk about "Rotations of the circle and number theory".

December and concerning the evolution of Portuguese economic activity in the short term was 34.8, which corresponds to a slight decrease in the Panel's confidence index in the evolution of the economic situation compared to the value of the index calculated in November, which was 35.0. In year-on-year terms, the index grew by 1.2%. The consensus of the Panel members on economic developments is decreasing.
