ISEG through the University of Lisbon is part of one of the  17 "European Universities"  announced on June 26 by the European Commission. The "European University" that ULisboa is now part of is called "UNITE! University Network for Innovation, Technology and Engineering".

ULisboa's partners in UNITE! are AALTO University of Helsinki, INSTITUT POLYTECHNIQUE DE GRENOBLE, KUNGLIGA TEKNISKA HOEGSKOLAN of Sweden, POLITECNICO DI TORINO, TECHNISCHE UNIVERSITAT DARMSTADT and UNIVERSITAT POLITECNICA DE CATALUNYA.

UNITE! Its mission is:

- EMPOWER students, staff and teachers to promote a new European University concept, encouraging active participation at all levels in the development of flexible study pathways and joint curricula with integrated mobility across Europe and the world.

- DEVELOP a European University by sharing resources and services in education, research and management, removing structural barriers and creating a favorable context for the creation of a European Degree.

- LEAD in the development of new teaching and research concepts in science, technology and engineering, based on innovative transdisciplinary approaches arising from art, design, architecture, management, social sciences and humanities.

- EDUCATE a new generation of European students in science, technology and engineering who actively contribute to the advancement of knowledge, European competitiveness and the development of solutions to societal challenges.

The 'European Universities' are transnational alliances of higher education institutions across the EU that share a long-term strategy and promote European values. This initiative aims to significantly enhance student and staff mobility and promote the quality, inclusiveness and competitiveness of European higher education. Each new 'European University' will constitute an inter-university campus around which students, doctoral candidates, staff and researchers can move seamlessly. The new "European Universities" will pool expertise and resources to provide joint curricula or modules in different subject areas. Curricula should be very flexible and allow students to personalize their education, choosing what, where and when to study and obtain a European degree. The "European Universities" should contribute to the sustainable economic development of their regions.

ISEG took part in the university marketing competition organized by Pearson in November 2016. This is a challenge in which teams from various universities in Portugal and Spain compete against each other using a simulator that records the teams' strategic options taking into account the jeans market.

The team that represented ISEG is part of the Operational Marketing undergraduate course and is made up of the following students Clarisse Manteigas, Filipa Ferreira, Inês António, Júlio Neves and Prof. Carolina Afonso.

The team finished in 4th place and stood out in the social media challenge, which she won, receiving the book " The business of choice. Marketing to consumer's instincts" by Matthew Willcox (Pearson).

In the words of Inês António, a spokesperson for the group:
"Taking part in Pearson's marketing challenge was a very enriching experience. In a practical way, we applied the concepts taught in the Operational Marketing course. This experience gave us a clearer view of how an organization's marketing department works and the decisions it has to make."
