Until September 30 (17h00 - Lisbon time) 2015, applications for doctoral scholarships of the University of (ULisboa) are open. 163 scholarships are available, distributed in 73 areas of knowledge.

 

Students who are enrolled, or have been accepted, in a doctoral study cycle at ULisboa may apply. The submission of applications is done exclusively online.

Portuguese Courses for Foreigners at ULisboa

The University of Lisbon (ULisboa) offers various foreign language courses, as well as Portuguese Language Courses for foreigners.
You can attend the courses organized by the Institute of Portuguese Language and Culture (ICLP), a teaching and research division in the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon.

The focus on integration and promotion of cultural diversity is an important aspect of the education at ULisboa. That is why language courses are structured to promote learning that includes a cultural dimension.

Portuguese is the 6th most spoken language in the world, the 3rd European language of global expression and the 1st language of the Southern hemisphere. It is spoken by 250 million people (3.7% of world population) in 8 countries where it has the status of an official language. It is the most spoken language in the Southern hemisphere with a total of 217,341 million speakers.
 
It is the 6th most used language in the business world (Bloomberg ranking) and has a web presence of about 82 million users.

It is the 3rd most spoken language on Facebook and the 4th on Twitter.

ICLP also organizes events to promote socialization and integrations of the students in the academic community, seeking to mobilize the academic associations, the Erasmus students community, as well as the teachers, in general.

Furthermore, the ICLP has a vast experience in organizing visits to museums, to emblematical places in Lisbon and in Portugal, providing its participants a direct contact with the Portuguese culture.

ULisboa ranks 1st in SCIMAGO Research 2015

The University of Lisbon (ULisboa) ranks 1st among Portuguese universities in the SCIMAGO 2015 Research Ranking, which evaluates nine indicators: output (number of publications in SCOPUS), international collaboration, impact factor (normalized), publication quality factor, specialization index, excellence ratio, scientific leadership, publication excellence and leadership excellence.

 

ULisboa is ranked 113th in the world among the 5,055 higher education institutions and research organizations considered, having  up 26 positions since 2013. It should be noted that ULisboa has improved its ranking in the restricted universe of universities worldwide, now occupying 92nd place compared to 99th in 2014. At European level, ULisboa is in 29th place, of which only 19 are higher education institutions.

 

In this year's SCIMAGO Research list, the majority of Portuguese higher education institutions have risen. In this respect, ULisboa's position stands out, 84 places ahead of the Portuguese higher education institution in 2nd place.

Review of the classification and funding attributed by FCT to ISEG's Research Centers

Following the appeals submitted by the ISEG Research Centers to the 2014 evaluation, it is com very pleased to report the results of the review of the classification and funding awarded by FCT to two of the three ISEG Research Units

The CSG now has "Excellent" together with the CEMAPRE "Very good". A UECE despite having retained the qualitative mention of "Very good", also had its quantitative score revised upwards.

There are currently  292 R&D units in Portugal registered at FCT, divided by different areas of knowledge, from different universities, the result of partnerships between universities or autonomous operation.
 

Innovation Week at ULisboa

 

The University of Lisbon (ULisboa) is holding its  1st Innovation Weekin June, with the aim of promoting public debate on important issues in the University's strategic areas of intervention.
This week, the following will take place  conferences of ULisboa's Interdisciplinary Thematic Networks - AGRO Network, HEALTH Network, VALUE Network and the recently created Network of Study and Planning Technicians (RtEP)

At the same time,  an exhibition space for research, knowledge, technology and entrepreneurship will be promoted where external companies, partners, research institutes and incubators from ULisboa will participate. 

This initiative will take place between June 15 and 18, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the ULisboa Rectory.

Election for Student Members of the General Council and Senate | ULisboa

On  May 4 and 5, 2015  The election of student representatives to the General Council and Senate of the University of Lisbon (ULisboa) will take place. 

 

All students, from any cycle of studies conferring a degree, enrolled at ULisboa on the date of the rectoral order calling the elections may participate in this electoral act.

 

The electoral roll is available for consultation at Secretariat of the ISEG Students' Association, from 9.00 to 13.00 and from 14.00 to 17.00.

 

At ISEG, the  election of student representatives to the General Council and Senate of the University of Lisbon,  will take place at  Library Floor 0 .

Spring Concert 2015 | Chamber Choir of ULisboa

The University of Lisbon celebrates its Spring Concert, on the day 25 March, at 21h30, in the Grace Church.
 
The concert by the University of Lisbon Chamber Choir takes up the tradition of marking the action of the University of Lisbon between the 13th and 16th centuries, before it moved to Coimbra in 1537.
 
The university is, above all, a space for creation, scientific and artistic. The university is culture. It exists in the city and for the city.
 
The occasion will feature the participation of: 
- University of Lisbon Chamber Choir (Organ: João Lima | Conductor: Maestro Luís Almeida)
- Lisbon Women's Choir (Directed by Maria Pedro Valadão)
 
Free admission until the church is full.

Auditions of the ULisboa Chamber Choir

The University of Lisbon Chamber Choir opens auditions for female and male voices, for singers with choral or vocal experience, for its upcoming music season February-June 2015
 
Next season the chamber choir will perform 20th-century works, a cappella and for choir and guitar, with texts by F. García Lorca and Langston Hughes.

ULisboa | Ágora Conference Cycle

Starting in January, the University of Lisbon (ULisboa) is promoting the "ÁGORA - Science and Society" Conference Cycle. This initiative invites all those interested to "look at the world together and, with the help of prominent national personalities, make the journey of discovering the challenges that intersect with the new activity of research, development and innovation." The first conference took place on January 9th.
