This Christmas, Universidade de Lisboa is organising the, 18 Schools, 18 Support Actions, Christmas Solidarity Campaign, from the 9th to 18th December, 2024, to support the charity Ajuda de Berço.
Ajuda de Berço is a residential shelter that provides a home for babies and children who need urgent protection from situations that put them in danger, such as violence, sexual abuse, various forms of neglect, and abandonment.

This event, which is open to academia, industry, policy-makers, and society as a whole, will focus on the Food System, exploring the elements and activities related to food production and consumption, as well as their drivers and consequences, both from a global perspective and in the national context.
Through papers and debates with experts, the objective of the conference is to discuss the necessary transformations and identify strategies that promote healthy and affordable diets, sustainability, food security, and social equity, while also addressing the economic, environmental, and health challenges that affect food production and consumption.

ULisboa stands out worldwide in the subject areas of Naval and Oceanic Engineering (4th place), Civil Engineering, and Veterinary Sciences (both in 44th place), and Mechanical Engineering (50th place), as published by the Shanghai Ranking Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2024.
The CWUR ranking also places ULisboa in the top 75 in the world in Oceanography and Statistics, in the top 100 in Atmospheric Sciences, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Agricultural Sciences, and in the top 150 in Geography, Ecology, Economics, Water Resources, and Hotel and Tourism Management.
ULisboa is the national leader in 26 areas and was the only Portuguese university to be considered in the CWUR ranking for evaluation in Earth Sciences, Oceanography, Automation and Control, Naval and Ocean Engineering, Water Resources and Statistics. In the ranking, ULisboa was considered in 40 of the 55 areas evaluated in the Natural Sciences, Life Sciences, Engineering, Medical Sciences and Social Sciences.
If we look at Portugal alone, in the scientific areas of Economics and Management, the University of Lisbon is in 1st place and, consequently, ISEG is to be congratulated.
The Shanghai Ranking Global Ranking of Academic Subjects is internationally recognised as being one of the most prestigious higher education rankings. Created in 2009, in this edition it evaluated 5,000 universities, having published more than 1,900 from 96 countries/regions. The CWUR ranking uses indicators to evaluate the productivity and quality of research, as well as the level of international collaboration.

As part of the Programme to Combat Failure and Dropout in Higher Education, promoted by the Rectorate of Universidade de Lisboa, the ISEG is offering two short workshops especially designed to help you optimise your time and improve your study techniques.
Established with the support of Caixa Geral de Depósitos, the objective of the ULisboa Prize is to distinguish and reward a Portuguese or foreign national who has made a notable contribution to the progress and enhancement of Science and/or Culture as well as the projection of Portugal internationally.
The ULisboa Prize is awarded every year by decision of a panel, whose chair is the Rector of Universide de Lisboa. The overall value of the prize is €25,000.00.
This event is part of the University's "Welcome to ULisboa" programme for new students, which takes place on the same day, in the University's Alameda avenue, with the handing out of welcome kits to new students, sports activities, and the Sunset Party.
Free admission, subject to capacity.
