We are delighted to announce that Colloquium Work Without Borders: Perspectives on Domestic Services and Caregiving in Private Homes (previously scheduled for June 18th and 19th) will be held on October 1 and 2, 2020.
Initially planned as a face-to-face colloquium in Lisbon, it may be adjusted to an online modality depending on the progress of public health conditions.
Keynote speaker Prof. Rosie Cox will speak online. Rosie Cox is Professor of Geography at Birkbeck - University of London, with prestigious research on paid domestic work and care work (more info here).

This Colloquium aims to bring together theoretical, phenomenological and ethnographic contributions, among others, that will allow a better understanding of paid domestic work in its past or contemporary configurations, including perspectives on emerging trends.
Abstracts are invited for the following topics:
- Migration, work and gender;
- Disqualification, informality and the value of domestic work;
- Public policies in the domestic and care services sector;
- Associations, trade unions and collective mobilization in domestic work;
- Demographic ageing and the care sector;
- Rural/urban opposition in the organization of care;
- Discrimination and otherness in domestic and care services;
- Narratives and perceptions about work, domesticity or intimacy/body.
