CEsA - Centre for Studies on Africa and Development/ ISEG Research announces the Opening Session of the traveling exhibition “Deconstructing Colonialism, Decolonising the Imaginary. Portuguese Colonialism in Africa: Myths and Realities”, conceived, curated and coordinated by Professor and Researcher Isabel Castro Henriques.

The objective of this initiative is to encourage in-depth reflection and to contribute to a more critical and informed understanding of Portugal's colonial past.

The session will take place on 24 February, at 16.30, in the Francisco Pereira de Moura Library of ISEG - Lisbon School of Economics & Management.

This exhibition proposes a critical reflection on Portuguese colonialism in Africa, promoting debate around its historical narratives, myths and realities, and encouraging an informed and pluralistic analysis of this remarkable period in contemporary history.

The Opening Session will feature speeches by Professor Isabel Castro Henriques (Commissioner and Coordinator of the exhibition), Professor Eduardo Sarmento (Chair of the SCA), Professor Joao Duque (Dean of ISEG), Professor Joana Pais (Vice-Dean of ISEG) and Goncalo de Carvalho Amaro (Director of the National Museum of Ethnology).

The exhibition will be on display at the ISEG Library until 13 April.
