Synopsis
The first novel by Mozambican Mia Couto, who is already well known and appreciated by the Portuguese public, Terra Sonâmbula is set against the backdrop of the war in Mozambique, of which he paints a picture of strong and brutal realism. Within this nightmarish scenario, there are characters of profound humanity, sometimes with a magical and mythical dimension, all wandering through the shattered land, between the most poignant despair and a hope that refuses to die. 'Terra Sonâmbula' is an admirable novel, undoubtedly one of the best literary works written in Portuguese in recent years. It has been called one of the best African books of the 20th century.
