From 19–25 October, there was International Open Access Week, a global initiative promoted by SPARC (Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition), whose theme this year was: "The Cost of Knowledge?"
Open Access is one of the fundamental pillars of open science, guaranteeing that anyone — student, teacher, researcher or the general public — can access and share scientific knowledge freely, without barriers. For those developing a dissertation or thesis, this means more sources of information, fewer obstacles and greater academic impact.
In this context, and as part of International Open Access Week 2026, The Francisco Pereira de Moura Library will host a series of sessions focused on the overarching theme "The Cost of Knowledge?".
