On October 28th, at 18h00The seminar "SB 2026: Local Finances, Decentralization and Housing", in Auditorium 2 of ISEG.
The decentralization of powers to local authorities and their fundamental role in implementing community funds in the area of housing raise relevant questions that will be addressed at this seminar. In addition to the State Budget for 2026, it is important to analyze the budget execution of 2025 and 2024, in order to reflect on the impacts of budgetary policy in crucial areas of public governance.
i. Is the funding provided for in the State Budget for 2026 sufficient in view of the increased responsibilities of local authorities?
ii. Will municipalities have the financial capacity to respond to growing social and demographic pressures in the coming years?
iii. How have local authorities been implementing the RRP, particularly investment in housing, and what are the main obstacles to faster implementation?
iv. What models of financing and institutional coordination should be promoted to guarantee the resources needed to pursue effective and equitable housing policies?
In this context, the Institute of Public Policy is organizing the seminar 'State Budget 2026: Local Finances, Decentralization and Housing', where these issues will be debated in a comprehensive panel on public policies and territorial development.
