José Almeida

Biography

José Almeida is a lecturer at ISEG – Lisbon School of Economics & Management, University of Lisbon, and a researcher member at CSG/ADVANCE – Research Center. His main areas of research are financial economics, macroeconomics, financial markets, alternative finance, behavioral finance, and green finance.

José's academic career began at the Polytechnic Institute of Beja, where he graduated in Business Management. Later, at University of Évora, he concluded his Master’s degree in Management with a specialization in Finance with a thesis entitled " Análise da relação entre a Bitcoin e o Mercado Acionista: estudo de preços, rendibilidades e transferência de volatilidade ". As he pursued his Master's degree, José diversified his professional experience by assuming roles as a senior technician and financial manager in multiple Portuguese companies.

After completing his Master's degree, he was invited to work as a consultant for the University of Évora, where he was one of the creators of the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) "Introdução à Bitcoin".

Later, he started a Ph.D. in Management at ISEG, developing a prolific scientific activity proven in numerous high-quality research publications, as well as various participations in important international conferences.

Currently, José lectures Financial Management at ISEG, where he also supervises and serves as a jury member for master's theses.
