Abstract: Item response models (IRM) are a powerful tool in quantitative educational assessment processes, which enable a number of advances in terms of school monitoring of students, allow to evaluate the school performance of a given level of education, or to verify if there was a gain from one level to another. The use of IRMs also allows the constitution of (calibrated) item banks, the creation of tests from the item bank, the investigation of item properties and the construction of scales to measure learning. For this class of models, the basic concepts are presented, the properties are discussed, the most commonly used models are specified and the main estimation procedures are explained. In order to apply some of the models presented, the items that make up a test are analyzed and the estimates of the discrimination and difficulty parameters of the items are presented. The information function of the test is used to ascertain the informative capacity of the test in relation to the latent factor (mathematics skills) and the measurement error is quantified. The results obtained highlight the importance of using MRI-based techniques for analyzing the properties of instruments and items in educational assessment, as well as their potential in the construction and validation of instruments.

Carolina Afonso has a degree in International Relations from Universidade Nova de Lisboa, a specialization from the Haagse Hoge School in the Netherlands and a master's degree in Marketing from the Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão. She has worked in the IT sector for five years and is currently marketing director at ASUS Portugal.
Her main interests are marketing and ecology. The subject of her master's thesis is "The Portuguese green consumer: profile and purchasing behavior". She writes for various national publications on green marketing and consumer behavior. She is currently a columnist for the GreenGoods project, a portal on news and trends in the green market.
Many consumers, aware of the growing concern for the environment, have been questioning the products they buy and who they buy them from, leading to a change in attitude and trends in marketing.
Several international studies and surveys point to a green trend in marketing and the economy with the emergence of a new class of consumers who consume and prefer environmentally friendly products and whose demands and changes in consumption patterns have led organizations to rethink their strategies and positioning in order to include the sustainability component in their decisions.
But what exactly is green marketing? Who are these new consumers? What is their socio-demographic and psychographic profile? What are their values? What are the different green segments? What are green products? What is their life cycle? What changes have there been in consumption patterns and habits?
The purpose of this workshop is to contribute to a better understanding of the new marketing trends involving the consumption of green products, contributing to the development of more appropriate marketing strategies to reach this new market segment.

Abstract: We propose a semi-parametric mode regression estimator for the case in which the variate of interest is continuous and observable over its entire unbounded support. The estimator is semi-parametric in that the conditional mode is specified as a parametric function, but only mild assumptions are made about the nature of the conditional density of interest. We show that the proposed estimator is consistent and has a tractable asymptotic distribution. Simulation results and an empirical illustration are provided to highlight the practicality and usefulness of the estimator.
