ULisboa dresses up its Academic Community in innovation

This outfit will also include an epitome, a distinctive element of each school, personalised with the respective colour, which will be available soon.

The new model of academic attire has been developed by Inês Simões, Michelle Santos and Pedro Noronha Feio, professors at the School of Architecture from ULisboa, and is distinguished by its straight cut in black fabric, seams with sealing tape and the use of ultrasonic construction technology. Professor Mário Matos Ribeiro was also involved. The challenge set to the designers was to reinterpret a garment deeply linked to academic tradition, giving it modernity and innovation.

This academic attire also marks an important moment for ULisboa, as it is the first model created since the merger between the former Universidade de Lisboa and Universidade Técnica de Lisboa.

At the moment, the new gown can be purchased by all ULisboa PhD graduates, upon proof of their degree, and by ULisboa professors and researchers, at ULisboa store in the Rectorate.
