ISEG i2030 Seminar | 'Alternative socio-economic models of sustainability through ecological design trajectories'

On March 26th (Wednesday), another session of the 2025 edition of the ISEG i2030 Seminars. The debate will focus on the trajectories of ecological design and how they relate to alternative socio-economic models of sustainability.

Miriam Soares, Service Readiness Specialist at Vodafone and former ISEG researcher, will be the speaker of 'Alternative socio-economic models of sustainability through ecological design trajectories', which will start from 6:30 pm at Amphitheater 2 (Francesinhas Building 1).

ISEG's i2030 Seminars will take place as part of the Master's Degree in Industrial Management, Operations and Sustainability. The sessions will be conducted in English, open to the general public and feature a range of speakers and guests from such different fields as education, telecom, energy or local administration.

On March 19th (Wednesday), another session of the 2025 edition of the ISEG i2030 Seminars will be held. The circular economy and the advantages for the industrial sector of extending the lifespan of products and materials will be the topic of debate on this date.

Marta Brazão, President of 'Circular Economy Portugal', will be the speaker of 'Waste is a design flaw: how circular economy can be a game changer for Industries', which will take place at ISEG's Amphitheater 2 (Francesinhas Building 1), starting from 6:30 pm.

On March 12 (Wednesday), another session of the 2025 edition of the ISEG i2030 Seminars will be held. Integrated multitrophic aquaculture and how it relates with sustainability will be the subject of debate throughout the event.

Gonçalo Amorim, from 'Food4Sustainability CoLAB' will be the speaker of 'AmpliAqua: Exploring the limits of sustainable integrated multitrophic aquaculture systems', which will take place at ISEG's Amphitheater 2 (Francesinhas Building 1), starting from 6:30 pm.

Helena Valente, Chief Operating Officer of 'CESO Development Consultants', will be the keynote speaker of 'Industrial Policy in Developing Countries', which will take place at ISEG's Amphitheater 2 (Francesinhas Building 1), starting from 6:30 pm.

The 2025 edition of the ISEG i2030 Seminars starts on February 12 (Wednesday), with a session dedicated to the ever-present topic of sustainability.

The speaker of the inaugural session of the seminar series, titled 'How Companies are Transforming their Value Chains Towards Sustainability', will be Luís Rochartre Álvares, from ISEG Executive Education.

Roundtable | ESG in Practice: How companies are integrating ESG criteria into their businesses

On February 12th, ISEG will host the round table "ESG in Practice: How companies are integrating ESG criteria into business". The event, which will take place at Auditorium 2 (Quelhas), from 17:00 to 18:30will bring together experts to debate the integration of ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) criteria into business strategies.

The session aims to explore how companies are turning challenges into sustainable opportunities, promoting value by adopting responsible business practices.

Sustainability is a Competitive Advantage for Companies

On October 23rd, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., ISEG's Auditorium 2 will host a talk entitled "Sustainability is a Competitive Advantage for Companies", with the participation of Filipa PantaleãoSecretary General of BCSD Portugal, and of Prof. Sandra Oliveira. The event is part of the seminar cycle of the Master's Degree in Marketing and is part of the activities of the ISEG Sustainable Week '24.

This is a unique opportunity for students and professionals interested in exploring how sustainability can be a competitive differentiator for companies, enriching their market strategies and practices.

ISEG Sustainable Week '24

With a varied programme focused on current issues, we will explore topics such as ESG practices and corporate sustainability, discuss new sustainable business models with the participation of CEOs, address the transition to a green economy, hold workshops on climate change and its impacts on food systems, promote training on the carbon market with Carbon Literacy, and participate in a hands-on activity in the mini-forest, which is dedicated to producing compost and supporting the circular economy.

These initiatives challenge everyone to reflect on the role of sustainability in different contexts. Join us during this week which is dedicated to sustainable development.
