CEsA participates in a European consortium of the #DemocracyinAction project

CEsA - Centre for African and Development Studies/ISEG Research is part of a European consortium coordinated by the University of Leiden to carry out the #DemocracyinAction: Grassroots Culture, Arts and Cultural Spaces for Political Participation and Expression Online and Offline in a Resilient Europe research project, which is financed by a grant of 3 million euros from Horizon Europe.

Professors Jessica Falconi and Iolanda Évora are coordinating the Work Package No. 5 - Race, Ethnicity and Civic Participation. The research will focus on the cultural and artistic productions and spaces created by communities of the African diaspora, as well as the productions of the Roma community in Portugal and the Moroccan community in Spain. This research will be carried out in collaboration with local Portuguese and Spanish organisations.

The first meeting of the project took place at ISEG on 12, 13 and 14 February, bringing together more than 20 European researchers and activists.

Summer at ULisboa 2025 | Application period now open

The Verão na ULisboa (Summer in ULisboa) is back, from 30 June to 11 July 2025.

The eagerly awaited summer event organised by Universidade de Lisboa is back. The Verão na ULisboa initiative provides a unique opportunity for 8th to 12th year high school students, and even those who have already completed the 12th year, to get to know and experience the rhythm and spirit of academic life at the University.

ISEG professor elected Portugal's National Representative at the prestigious EMAC

ISEG, through the professor of Strategy and Marketing Márcia Maurer Herter, was recently elected Portugal's National Representative at EMAC - European Marketing Academy.

Founded in 1975, EMAC is one of the most prestigious European academic organisations in the field of Marketing, promoting global academic exchange, career development and collaboration between researchers, with a strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. The election was attended by Portuguese EMAC members and included candidates from other leading universities, including NOVA SBE and Universidade Católica Portuguesa.

This appointment follows ISEG's successful organisation of the EMAC conference in September 2024, which brought together academics from more than twenty countries, reinforcing the School's prestige in the area of Strategy and Marketing. Professor Márcia Herter has outlined an action plan focused on integrating Portuguese researchers into EMAC's activities, including webinars with national authors from top publications (such as those listed in the Financial Times and ABS4), and the EMAC Paper Development Workshop.This is aimed at supporting young researchers and PhD students with feedback from senior academics.

The professor also proposes fostering a culture of inclusion and diversity, guaranteeing representation and welcoming researchers at all stages of their careers, with the aim of strengthening the national academic community and the international projection of marketing research in Portugal.

ISEG teams among the 10 national finalists of L'Oréal Brandstorm 2025

The team Tides, composed of students from ISEG Master's in Marketing, Afonso Mora, Bernardo Luís and Guilherme Braga, as well as the mixed teams L'Homme+,with Afonso Beijoca, Alisa Bekauri (ISEG) and Mafalda Beijoca (Universidade Católica), One Blend, with Filipe Van Acht (ISEG), Maria do Céu André (ISCTE) and Marisa Portugal (ISEG), and MENIKA, with Adelino Magalhães (UTAD), Bruno Oliveira (FEP) and Francisca Tuna (ISEG), were selected for the semi-finals of the L'Oréal Brandstorm 2025, standing out among the 10 best projects in Portugal.

L'Oréal Brandstorm is one of the most prestigious international competitions in the field of marketing and innovation, challenging young talents to develop disruptive solutions for the future of the beauty industry. In this edition, the teams had to present creative proposals in line with market trends and L'Oréal's values.

The semi-final between Portugal and Spain takes place online on 10 April, from 11.00 to 13.00, where each team will have 3 minutes for the pitch and 2 minutes to answer the Evaluation Panel's questions.

ISEG is proud to see its students shining in this global competition, a testament to the excellence of the teaching of Marketing and Strategy of our School. Congratulations to the teams and good luck in the next round!

ISEG Alumni Económicas celebrates its 34 years' anniversary and reflects on the future of Europe and the Global Economy

ISEG Alumni Económicas, Economic Alumni of ISEG celebrates its 34th anniversary, marking the date with a conference and a celebratory dinner.

The seminar on 'Europe in the Multipolar Context and the Global Economy', part of the 'Where are the World, Europe and Portugal heading?' Conference Cycle, will be held in the ISEG's CGD Auditorium, from 18.00 onwards. It will include the participation of Abel Mateus, José Félix Ribeiro, Paulo Macedo and Pedro Castro e Almeida, the moderator being Eduardo Catroga. The objective of this initiative is to promote an in-depth debate on the challenges and opportunities facing Europe in the current global geopolitical and economic scenario.

Following the tradition of celebrating and networking among alumni, the 34th Anniversary Dinner of ISEG Alumni Económicas will take place from 20.00 onwards, in ISEG's Noble Hall, and will feature Mario Centeno as the Keynote Speaker.

In addition to the celebration, the event will also have a charitable dimension, whereby part of the proceeds from the dinner will go to support students with financial difficulties, through the ISEG Alumni Económicas Solidarity Programme. This academic year, ISEG Alumni Económicas is already supporting 20 ISEG students, with applications still pending due to budgetary constraints.

This date also marks the beginning of the celebrations for the 35th anniversary of the creation of ISEG Alumni Económicas, opening a cycle of activities that will continue until April 2026.

Applications for funding for Pedagogical Innovation Projects are open until April 30.

Encouraging the adoption of innovative practices and educational models capable of responding to current pedagogical challenges, the University of Lisbon is launching a call for funding for Pedagogical Innovation Projects.

You can apply ULisboa teachers and researchersThe project will be carried out individually or in teams of up to five. Each project will have maximum funding of €2,000 (two thousand euros).

U!Train 2025 | Open applications

Applications are now open for U!Train 2025, a program for 30 students from the Unite! Alliance, which develops sustainable entrepreneurship skills and multicultural collaboration during a train journey from Darmstadt (Germany) to Graz (Austria), from August 29 to September 5, 2025.

Organized by TU Darmstadt and TU Graz, partners of the Unite! Alliance, this trip includes practical workshops, development of business cases and intercultural teamwork, promoting innovation and sustainable practices.
