Masterclass with Nick Bridge

In partnership between the British Embassy in Portugal and the ISEG Sustainable Finance Knowledge Centre, we invite you to attend the masterclass given by Nick Bridge, on October 12th, at 5pm (Lisbon time).

Nick Bridge is the UK's Special Representative for Climate Change. He was the UK's Permanent Representative to the OECD between 2011 and 2016. He was also Chief Economist at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and Head of the Global Economy Department. He was also a diplomat for more than a decade in China, Japan and the United States.

Sofia Santos, a professor at ISEG, will moderate the conversation on COP26 and the challenges surrounding climate change.

Open Class | Science and Magic: Between Progress and Return

On October 11, an Open Class takes place as part of the Master in Economics and Management of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The lecture, entitled "Science and Magic: Between Progress and Return", will be given by Professor João Caraça (founder of the Master's Degree in EGCTI and former director of the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon and Paris).

The session starts at 8pm in Auditorium 2 (Ed. Quelhas, 2nd floor).

Commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the PhD in Economic and Organizational Sociology and of SOCIUS

On October 13th, a Inaugural Class of the 2021/2022 school year, which marks the 30th anniversary of the PhD in Economic and Organizational Sociology and the SOCIUS – Research Centre in Economic and Organizational Sociology.

The theme of the class is "Employment and Digital Technologies: Recent Debates" and will be led by Professor Ilona Kovács.

The session starts at 6pm in Auditorium 4 (Ed. Novo Quelhas).

Lecture with Johan Rockstrom

Want to discuss the future of the planet with a leading climate expert?

On October 6, Wednesday, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., we will receive, at ISEG, the scientist and Director of ISEG. Potsdam Institute for Climate ImpactJohan Rockström for a conversation about the risk of crossing planetary boundaries and the importance of setting scientific goals to ensure a safe operating space on Earth. 

The moderation will be carried out by Professors Patricia Melo, from the Department of Economics of ISEG, and Olivia Bina, from the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon.

The lecture will be conducted in English and will take place in a hybrid format, face-to-face and online, upon prior registration (limited places):

Harvard Club of Portugal @ISEG | The Portuguese Economy and the New Roaring Twenties

The Harvard Club of Portugal and ISEG are organizing a special macroeconomic session on the Portuguese economy in the context of the recently approved Recovery and Resilience Plan. The session, entitled "The Portuguese Economy and the New Roaring Twenties"takes place on the day June 14th, from 6PM to 8PMat the ISEG Terrace (Ed. Novo Quelhas).

The discussion panel includes the president of ISEG, professor Clara Raposo, as well as Eduardo Catroga, Cristina Casalinho, and Bernardo Barreto, moderated by Jorge Barros Luís and Stephan Morais.

The goal of the Economic Alumni Mentoring Program is to provide the best possible placement for ISEG graduates in the labor market, creating unique learning and leadership opportunities that are fundamental to building successful career paths.

Through this program, Mentees have the opportunity to be accompanied in a continuous and very personal way during the process of integration into the labor market. They can learn directly from those who have already reached high professional levels, and who are willing to share their time and knowledge to support Mentees in their personal and professional development process.

Mentors have the opportunity to "sponsor" an ISEG alumnus, and have the rewarding experience of developing their leadership skills and a true relationship of sharing, mentoring, and friendship.
