ISEG celebrates the 125th anniversary of the birth of Bento de Jesus Caraça with the opening of an exhibition dedicated to his life and work.
Mathematician, professor, science communicator and an unavoidable figure in Portuguese cultural and civic life, Bento de Jesus Caraça (1901-1948) guided his life by his commitment to the democratization of knowledge and his courageous intervention in the society of his time.
The exhibition is organized into four thematic blocks - Life, Work, Citizenship and Science - and brings together photographs and documents from Bento de Jesus Caraça's estate, deposited at the Mário Soares and Maria Barroso Foundation, as well as materials collected in the ISEG archives. It seeks to cover his career of cultural and scientific intervention, particularly in the context of ISC-ISCEF and the dissemination of knowledge, without forgetting his civic and political commitment, including the episode of his resignation from the University.
The opening session will feature institutional speeches, followed by a musical performance by a choral group of Cantes Alentejanos. A brief catalog of the exhibition will also be available, with texts by various authors.
The exhibition is on display at the ISEG Library until September 30, 2026.
ISEG has once again organised a series of workshops, Money Matters, a financial literacy initiative aimed at secondary school students, developed in partnership with the São João do Estoril School Group.
Throughout the 2025/2026 school year, the programme involved around 160 students, with practical sessions dedicated to essential topics such as investment, taxation, budget management and financial decision-making. The initiative sought to help young people understand fundamental concepts for their personal lives and future careers.
The closing session took place at ISEG on 15 April and was attended by the Minister of Education, Science and Innovation, Fernando Alexandre, and included the awarding of diplomas to the participants.
With this second edition, ISEG strengthens its commitment to the promotion of financial literacy and its connection to the community, helping to prepare young people for the challenges of the future.
At ISEG / ISEG Executive Education, we continue to believe that knowledge is an agent of transformation. We prepare professionals and leaders to face the challenges of a constantly evolving world, with an approach centred on people, innovation and positive impact.
We promote critical thinking, encourage a diversity of perspectives and value the proximity between students, members of faculty and organisations. More than training, we empower people to act, decide and lead with purpose.
To once again be recognised among the finalists of the Human Resources Awards is a source of great pride and validates our ongoing commitment to excellence, skills development and valuing human capital.
As previously, Human Resources magazine invites its readers to vote for the companies they consider to have performed best in various areas related to People Management.

Join us as we share the main results, innovations and lessons learned from the SustInAfrica research project, highlighting how sustainable intensification approaches can improve productivity, resilience, ecosystem services, and market development in West and North Africa, and how these results can be taken forward into policy and practice.
SustInAfrica is an EU-funded Horizon 2020 research project which aims to empower West and North African smallholder farmers and small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to facilitate sustainable intensification of African farming systems, and to develop and deploy a reference framework on agricultural practices and technologies. Through seven interlinked work packages (WPs), the project is developed in 5 North and West African countries: Egypt, Tunisia, Niger, Ghana, and Burkina Faso.
