rd 2018 from 9:00-18:00, in the Auditorium CGD (ISEG, Quelhas Building, 2
na floor).
The One Belt One Road Initiative and 21
st Century Maritime Silk Road was created by the Chinese government in 2013 and aims at
"enabling China to further expand and deepen its opening-up, and to strengthen its mutually beneficial cooperation with countries in Asia, Europe and Africa and the rest of the world" (Vision and Actions in Jointly Building Silk Road Economic Belt and 21
st Century Maritime Silk Road, March 2015, NDRC and MOFCOM).
The Chinese vision is to foster countries interconnectivity on their development strategies, aiming to complement their competitive advantages with Chinese ones.
This initiative now encompasses nearly 70 countries with a population of over 4.8 billion people. It covers economies worth a total sum of US$ 21 trillion, accounting for 62 % of the world's GDP, 65 % of global land and 30% of maritime-based economic production
Several questions arise such as:
Why Belt & Road is important?
How will it be financed? How to access?
Which countries, sectors and projects are covered?
To get the answers, you are cordially invited to participate in this Conference.
