The progressive and systematic reduction in the area of agricultural land and abandoned land in metropolitan areas significantly compromises the proximity food supply of large urban areas and their food sustainability. Given that more than 60% of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area (AML) is not urbanized, it is important to establish a model for land use which, within the logic of efficient territorial planning, makes it possible to integrate the urban food system, thus contributing to reducing the likelihood of environmental risk situations occurring and to a rational economic and social development strategy.
This cycle brings together, around six themes, experts from the University of Lisbon and other sectors of society with complementary skills in terms of areas of knowledge and action. Urban Food Planning as a result of territory, production, consumption, culture and environment is approached with a holistic view to generate a multidimensional debate that questions expectations and actions.

On February 8th, the debate "
Transparency and Rigor in Public Finances", where the results of the IPP-ISEG Index will be discussed, as part of Budget Watch, an annual project that brings together IPP, ISEG and Deloitte, and the Open Budget Survey, an international project on budget transparency, of which IPP is a member.

With the aim of helping to promote the realization of the Human Right to Adequate Food, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the ReAlimentar network, the National Rural Network (RRN) and the Food, Farming and Forestry College (F3) of the University of Lisbon are organizing the following day
February 7th,
Seminar "AlimentAção: The Human Right to Adequate Food through public purchases from short agri-food chains". The session will take place in the Great Hall of the Rectory of the University of Lisbon.
This event, which is open to the public, will present and discuss good practices and national and international experiences related to governance, public procurement, local production and adequate food consumption, with an emphasis on collective catering from Short Agri-Food Circuits and family farmers.
This seminar will be a space for debate between representatives of the main players involved in decision-making and will contribute to recognizing and aligning national and municipal strategies for food, in interface with political power and in line with global agendas and initiatives.
