On May 4, IPP - Institute of Public Policy Thomas Jefferson - Correia da Serra organizes the seminar "
American lessons for the Euro", to be held at 17h30, at the Luso-American Development Foundation (
Rua Sacramento à Lapa, 21, Lisbon).
The starting point is the
essay by Jeffry Frieden (professor at Harvard University), who will present the
"American Lessons for the Euro". After Frieden's lecture, a panel discussion follows, joining the IPP Seminar
Vitor Bento (Economist, member of the IPP Strategic Council),
Francesco Franco (Professor NOVA SBE, Director IPP),
Paulo Trigo Pereira (ISEG, Assembleia da República, IPP), with the moderation of
Luís Teles Morais (ISEG/IPP).
Despite important differences, the American experience is the richest historical source of inspiration for shaping the process of European integration, whether or not it is destined for a federal Europe. The aim of this seminar is to disseminate knowledge in the Portuguese public debate on the American lessons for European economic integration, so that it can inform this discussion both at national level and in Portugal's interventions in European forums.

On May 2, a seminar will be held on the themes of "
Inequalities, Poverty and Development", at 6pm, in Amphitheater 4 (Ed. Quelhas, 4th floor).
This seminar is organized by GES - Economy and Society Group, with the support of SOCIUS and CISEP - ISEG Research Centres.
The Economy and Society Group (GES) is concerned that, in Portugal, the political debate and public opinion are held hostage by the urgency of finding answers to the most immediate problems facing the country at domestic and EU level, neglecting the need - which is also obviously urgent - to define a medium-term development strategy that is duly comprehensive and consensual.
This seminar thus proposes to deal with a series of issues considered fundamental to the construction of a development project for the country over the next decade.

Collaborative Supply Chain. The Generix Case", at 6pm, in room 107 (Ed. Francesinhas 2).
