SEMINAR | Socioeconomic and Environmental Valuation of Industrial Areas Redevelopment

The REHMINE project, which is part of the SOCIUS would like to publicize the Seminar entitled Socioeconomic and Environmental Valuation of Industrial Areas Redevelopment which will take place on June 11, 2013, at ISEG.

The main objective of this project was to contribute to the maximization of the value generated by the regeneration of brownfields or degraded and/or contaminated industrial areas, through the elaboration of a conceptual decision support model, which integrates the interests of stakeholders, based on the principles of sustainable development. The project studied the case of Mina de São Domingos, Mértola municipality.

The seminar presents a summary of the work of 3 years as well as aims to create a moment of discussion on the socio-economic value of mining heritage and industrial areas, to enable an exchange of experiences in the field of reclamation of degraded industrial areas and a reflection on the main challenges.

SEMINAR | Inequalities, Economic Model, Democracy

With the collaboration of CISEP, the Economy and Society Group (GES) is organizing a debate seminar on the subject of Inequalities, the Economic Model and Democracy.

The aim of this seminar is to discuss a number of issues around the question: "Why does income inequality matter?".

The debate will feature Professor Manuela Silva, Professor Carlos Farinha, Professor Ferreira de Almeida from ISCTE, among others.

The seminar will take place on May 30, in ISEG's amphitheatre 1 (Quelhas building), from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.
