The book launch Manuela Silva's Legacy takes place on November 11th, 6pm, at ISEG (CGD Auditorium).
The book launch will be attended by His Excellency, the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
Professor Manuela Silva (1932-2019) had a degree in Economics from ISEG, where she was a visiting professor.
She was a pioneer in the study of community development and in the study of inequality and poverty. She was responsible for coordinating the first scientific studies on poverty carried out in Portugal in the 80s. She has published several studies on the economy and society in Portugal, in which she has always shown a deep concern for the problems of development, inequalities, social injustice and the various forms of poverty and social exclusion.
With this in mind, ISEG decided to promote the publication of the book Manuela Silva's LegacyHe also wanted a tribute that reflected his public and academic intervention, as well as the main scientific areas to which he dedicated himself: Economics and Development; Economic Policy and Planning; Community Development and Social Development; Inequality, Poverty and Social Exclusion; Teaching and Education; Church and Citizenship.
