Yesterday, ISEG hosted a Strategic Leadership Program ISEG + Columbia Alumni Eventwith the special participation of Admiral Gouveia e Meloin an inspiring session on "Leading Selflessly.
The event brought together alumni of the program, providing a moment of sharing and networking between top leaders. During the session, Admiral Gouveia e Melo framed the challenges of leadership in a changing world and presented his own experiences. 10 Golden Rules for Effective Leadership.
Another remarkable moment was the inauguration of the screen "The Faces of Leadership, a work developed by the program's participants and which, from now on, is part of the ISEG Campussymbolizing the values and vision of strategic leadership.
The opening session featured a speech by Professor João Duque, Dean of ISEGand Joana Santos Silva, CEO of ISEG Executive Education and Director of the Strategic Leadership Program, who presented the session "The Power of Yes, reinforcing the impact of decision-making on leadership.
As a symbol of the journey of leadership and innovation, all participants in the event received an exclusive pair of the ISEG Sanjo tennis, the result of a partnership between ISEG and the iconic Portuguese brand Sanjo. This collaboration represents the fusion of tradition and modernity, reflecting the values of excellence, resilience and future vision that characterize the leaders trained at ISEG.
The 4th edition of the Strategic Leadership Program, which runs between Lisbon and New York, kicks off on September 2025 and is designed to senior managers and members of boards of directors who seek to increase their strategic leadership capacity.
This program offers a unique learning experiencecombining international immersion, exchange of experiences with leaders of reference and a transformative contentpreparing participants for leading with impact and purpose in an ever-changing world.

The RPS - Recruitment Process Simulation event was conceived as a result of the desire to empower ISEG students with new tools and knowledge to enable them to enter the labour market with greater confidence.
This is an event designed to provide participants with a broader understanding of the various phases that can make up a recruitment process, ranging from the application through to the final interview.

Born in Coimbra in 1956, António Cruz Serra is currently an executive director of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, where he has held office since 12 May, 2022.
From 1978 to 2022, he was a Full Professor in the scientific area of Electronics of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa.
He was the Rector of Universidade de Lisboa from 2013 to 2021, and the Rector of the Instituto Superior Técnico de Lisboa from 2012 to 2013, as well as being the Chair of the Instituto Superior Técnico from 2009 to 2012, Deputy Chair for Administrative Affairs of the Instituto Superior Técnico from 2002 to 2008, a Member of the Executive Committee for Fusion for Energy from 2007 to 2009, Chair of IMEKO - the International Measurement Confederation from 2009 to 2012, Chair of the Board of Directors of Taguspark SA from 2010 to 2014, and Chair of 'Cluster - Consortium Linking Science and Technology Universities for Education and Research' from 2010 to 2012.
He was also a researcher at the Biomechanics Group of the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência from 1979 to 1981, a researcher at the Centre for Electrotechnics of the Instituto Superior Técnico of Universidade de Lisboa from 1982 to 1994, and a researcher at the Telecommunications Institute from 1994 to 2024.
In addition, he was also a member of various evaluation panels for scientific research projects in the field of Electronic Instrumentation, which were candidates for funding from various European Union framework programmes, as well as from government agencies in Portugal, the Czech Republic, Italy and Poland.
From 1993 to 2022, hetaught Electronics subjects for the Navy School's degree in Weapons and Electronics.
He has a PhD (1992) and a Masters (1985) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa, and a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering, Universidade do Porto (1978).
He is the lead author of more than 200 scientific publications .
The electoral process for the General Board and the Senate of Universidade de Lisboaruns from 6 January 6 to 8 April.
The elections for the above-mentioned bodies of Universidade de Lisboa will be held from 13 March to 1 April, 2025.
The General Board is the University's strategic decision-making and supervisory body, whereas the Senate acts as a consultative body in representation of both the academic community and the schools that constitute Universidade de Lisboa.

The Economic Alumni of ISEG announces the creation of its Strategic Leadership Board, a body dedicated to promoting innovative practices and strategic reflections in the area of leadership. This Board will be chaired by Carolina Afonso, with Sandra Oliveira and Winnie Picoto taking on the role of Vice-Chairs.
The first major event promoted by the Council will be the Leader's Agenda 2025, an initiative that will debate the main topics that should be on a leader's agenda for the year ahead.
The event will take place on the morning of 31 January, and will take place at ISEG - Lisbon School of Economics and Management, and will be attended by the Minister of Finance, Joaquim Miranda Sarmentoas the keynote speaker.

The Skill Up For The Future programme continues in the 2nd Semester 2024-2025.
We know that the job market today is looking for more than just good technicians. It wants humane leadership and employees who are communicators, capable of thinking critically and innovatively.
Skill Up the Future allows you to develop these skills through active methodologies, in small groups and with the support of competent faculty.
The programme includes UCs with various transversal skills, which are understood to be fundemental for the education of students in the 1st cycle. The various UCs will run throughout the 3 years of the degree, with 0.5 ECTS assigned to each one.
Assessment is qualitative and takes place at the end of each module.
Enrolment for these courses is open on FENIX, from January 20 to 23, 2025..

The applications period is now open up until 14 February for the 2025 edition of the Universidade de Lisboa/Caixa Geral de Depósitos Scientific Awards.Up to 26 Prizes and 52 Honorable Mentions will be given.
The Scientific Awards were established by ULisboa in collaboration with Caixa Geral de Depósitos.The aim is to reward scientific research activity and encourage the practice of international publication of recognised quality and impact and is aimed at professors and PhD researchers with an active contract on the closing date for applications, as well as post-doctoral fellows who have been carrying out research at the Universidade de Lisboa for at least two years, reside in Portugal and meet the requirements set out in the Regulation.
