As a team, you'll face challenges, acquire resources and apply knowledge from the various areas of ISEG to develop an innovative product that could even be implemented. Over the course of the two days, you'll have contact with ISEG students and degrees, discovering in practice how these areas intersect and what opportunities they can open up for your academic future. And yes - you can stay overnight at ISEG and live the university experience to the full.

3 Minute Thesis - ULisboa 2026 

The applications period for the 3 Thesis Minutes - ULisboa 2026 competion is open until 15 February!

Who is it for?
The following are eligible for the 3MT Competition: students enrolled in a PhD degree at Universidade de Lisboa from the 3rd year onwards (inclusive). The challenge is to explain the impact of their research to a non-specialist audience in just three minutes and using a single slide.

What are the prizes?
1st place - €5,000
2nd place - €2,000
3rd place - €1,000

Candidates in Phase 1 will receive a Science Communication Training and a certificate of participation. The Phase 2 finalists and prize-winners will also be awarded diplomas in recognition of their merit.

OAIP Seminar | Maths is Fun: Games, Challenges and Gamification in Higher Education

On 19 February, the OAIP - Observatory for Pedagogical Action and Innovation of ISEG will hold a seminar on “Math is Fun: Games, Challenges and Gamification in Higher Education”,is aimed at teachers, with the aim of disseminating good practices and educational experiences that respond to the new pedagogical challenges in higher education.

The guest speaker is Catarina Frois Pacheco, Professor at ISCTE and the Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal.

This seminar will share gamification strategies that have been applied in practical maths classes for undergraduate students in various areas of Science and Engineering. Concrete examples will be presented, such as escape rooms, which are designed to consolidate previously taught content in a playful, collaborative and problem-solving-oriented way. 

These approaches seek to increase students' motivation, involvement and active participation. The impact of these pedagogical practices on student motivation and performance will also be discussed, as well as best practices for their implementation in different curricular contexts.

Although illustrated in the context of mathematics, the methodologies are transversal and applicable to any scientific area.

The seminar will take be given in Portuguese, starting at 12.30, in Auditorium 2 (Quelhas Building).

2nd Edition Ignite Mentoring 2025/26 | Applications period opens

The ISEG Alumni Económicas - ISEG Alumni Association will continue its Mentoring Programme. The objective of this initiative is to support final-year students and recent graduates in their transition to the job market.

The programme gives each participant the opportunity to be accompanied by a mentor - a former ISEG student who graduated more than five years ago - who can share his or her professional experience and provide close, personalised support.

The objective is to facilitate the integration of young people into employment. This is a period of great challenges, radical changes and uncertainty, but one that must be faced with courage and proactively.

The deadline for applications for mentees will be open until 14 February. The following can sign up:

Through Ignite Mentoring, participants will have the opportunity to be part of a group of leaders and learn from professionals who have already consolidated their careers. They benefit from sharing knowledge, experiences and a privileged network of contacts.

Thematic Cycle | Psychosocial Risks and Labour Rights

ISEG-Lisbon School of Economics and Management, Universidade de Lisboa, is organising a Thematic Cycle on Health & Safety at Work, entitled 'Psychosocial Risks and Labour Rights” to be held on February 19, 20 and 21, 2026, in Amphitheater 4 of the Quelhas 6 Building at Universidade de Lisboa.

This two-and-a-half day cycle covers various topics related to health at work and will contribute to the development of a culture of prevention, with special emphasis on psychosocial risks and inherent employment rights, by disseminating scientific and technical information and best organisational practices in this area. Promoting a culture of prevention involves adopting practices that contribute to preventing and controlling risks at all levels, creating a general awareness of safety among the workforce and their employers and establishing an organisational framework that can guarantee increasingly high levels of health and safety in the workplace. This cycle is made up of three modules covering, respectively, Mental health and health and safety law at work (Module 1), Bullying and Psychosocial Risks at Work (Module 2) and Psychosocial Risks at Work (Module 3). The price for the complete course is 330 euros, but it is possible to register for each module individually (1st module=140 euros, 2nd module= 140 euros, 3rd module= 100 euros). Given the integrative nature of the course, it is recommended to attend all the modules. The price includes lunch and parking for the 3 days of the course.
