It was Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation has announced the launch of the 2025 edition of the Gulbenkian New Talent Scholarships. This is a programme for exceptional students in Portuguese higher education, which promotes their talent and encourages them to begin research in the areas of Science, Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences.
The scholarships include an immersive talent enrichment programme. In addition to a scientific retreat during the weekend, tutoring by a university professor of recognised merit will be included and monitoring by a Scientific Committee, creating an opportunity for potential talent to achieve exceptional and innovative performance.
To be eligible for this programme, students must be:
- enrolled in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of a Bachelor's or an integrated Master's degree, or in the 1st year of a Master's degree in the academic year 2025/2026 at a university in Portugal;
- have an average of 16.5 or higher in the course units already completed.
The annual value of the scholarship is calculated on the basis of three components:
- support for training and research: €1,000;
- support for talent enrichment: €1,500;
- complementary social support: €1,000.
The application period will run from 10.00 on 1 September to 15.00 on 30 September 2025.
