CEMAPRE Seminar | Perspectives on Economic Research in a Central Bank

29 Apr 11:00
DELTA Room

On April 29, CEMAPRE - Center for Mathematics Applied to Economic Forecasting and Decision - will hold another seminar on " Perspectives on economic research at a central bank", at 11 a.m., in the Delta Room (ISEG, Quelhas Building, 3rd floor).

This session will be addressed by António Armando Antunes (Banco de Portugal, Department of Economic Studies), and aims to address the issue of economic research in a central bank, and in particular in the Bank of Portugal's Department of Economic Studies, from different perspectives. One of these perspectives is the need for the research staff to remain at the forefront of economic knowledge, with the resulting implications in terms of incentives and the desired profile for these employees. Another aspect is the availability of information to develop the empirical part of the research. Finally, contact with collaborators with a less academic profile is also an important facet of research activity in these institutions. This discussion includes examples of projects, practices and results that illustrate the role of economic research at Banco de Portugal.

Free admission.
