This is an inter-university program in Sociology, which mobilizes the theoretical, methodological and empirical heritage accumulated in the history of sociology, and its broad interdisciplinary connections, to generate new research and intervention orientations in the face of contemporary social challenges.

PhD in Sociology OpenSoc
The individual PhD thesis projects are hosted and contextualised within the research lines of the various research centres associated with OpenSoc's partner universities, which cover a wide range of topics and problematics of sociological knowledge, such as:
- social attitudes and values;
- identities, cultures and globalization;
- life paths, inequalities, and mobility;
- family and gender;
- childhood and youth;
- public policy and action;
- environment, territory, city and sustainability;
- work and organizations;
- science and technology;
- health and aging;
- school and education.
The OpenSoc degree is the result of an inter-university collaboration in the areas of sociological research, involving Universidade de Lisboa via the School of Social Sciences (ICS), the School of Social and Political Sciences (ICS), the School of Social and Political Sciences (ISCSP), Lisbon School of Economics and Management (ISEG); Universidade Nova de Lisboa via the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities; Universidade de Évora via the School of Research and Advanced Training; and Universidade do Algarve via the Faculty of Economics.
